![]() ![]() There have also been some complaints about people's experiences with their customer support, which I personally haven't run into thus far. Just make sure 5TB and 10TB works for you. Storage is also fixed unless you go for iDrive Cloud, the B2 competitor. My upload speeds are too slow to notice, but reviewers complain that uploads tend to be unable to saturate people's gigabit connections. Or so I've read.Since Syno boxes don't have a bare metal backup for DSM (even with the release of DSM7) yet, this might be a good option for that. Primarily because it can be used for root level baremetal backups for Syno boxes to an external drive. I've not played with this yet, but I'm plan on it. The software can be used for local backups too. All three NASs and my 3 windows machines start at different times starting at 11pm and all are finished by the time the last one runs at around 4am. My primary server gets about 30GB of new data a day and my backups complete in less than an hour each night. ![]() I don't know what their speed limits are, but my ISP limits me to a max of 300Mbs upstream and my upload to them (can be throttled in the software if you need to) maxes that out almost 100% of the time. The encryption is applied before it's written to the drive. This holds true on the Express Backup service as well. IF they were to be breached, your data is still encrypted with your custom key and only you hold that. They mention that if you create the encryption key, it's encrypted before it's sent to them and they don't hold the key on their servers. Happy to answer any questions i can for you. Saved me A LOT of upload time and allowed me to cancel my C2 early. I live by the motto "I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it." Also why my truck is a 4X4.lol. I do realize that this is overkill for my needs too, but I had an incident 15 years ago where I was literally 5 minutes from losing ALL our family memories, all my audio files, and all our important docs.had a drive fail in a non backuped up RAID 5 (yes I was stupid back then and thought RAID was backup), then 5 minutes after a rebuild, a second drive failed.then after a quick backup to ensure safety, a THIRD drive failed destroying the entire RAID array).since then I've been paranoid and go overboard. It took about a week from the day I requested the drive to the day it was available for me to start the online backups. They have a service where they'll send you a drive big enough for your data, then you do a backup with the software to it, then send it back.they put it on their servers directly and it's available for you to do incremental backups to it in a day or two after they receive it back. I've been running it for a month now and really like it. ![]() It can be used on multiple devices and there is a specific Synology Package for it. IDrive was $99 for a year and gives 10TB of storage. I was using Syno's C2 and for 6TB it was REALLY expensive, but I wanted everything backed up. O Lifecycle Settings: Keep only the latest version of the fileīefore enabling any of the above I'd need to know that it would not:ġ) cause errors by interfering with Hyperbackup's own versioning systemĢ) inflate the size of the bucket by keeping full copies of different file versions since the versioning system is different from HB's and could be doubling up the processģ) make it impossible to browse the backup image and download individual filesĤ) anything else that could reduce the reliability of HBĬan anyone tell me if leaving all of this off on BB is the right approach? I like the idea of having versioning on the server side in case the NAS is hacked and tries to delete its backups, but if that is going to double the storage space and overhead then it's difficult to justify. You're data sizes are like mine. Encrypted files will be automatically excluded from any future Snapshots requested for this bucket." ![]() Once enabled, all files uploaded to this bucket going forward will be encrypted by default. If you try to enable it, it shows the warning "You are enabling Server Side Encryption as the default for your bucket. O Bucket Settings > Default Encryption: Disabled Note that this setting cannot be changed without deleting and recreating the entire bucket. In the absence of documentation that they will work properly with Hyperbackup, I disabled the following settings: I'm setting up Backblaze B2 as a destination for Hyperbackup, but I can't deduce the proper encryption and retention settings on the server side from BB's guide, tutorials online, or other threads on this subject that I found. ![]()
